HOW IT BEGAN

Green Expo began in February 2004 when the idea was thought to organize a mini exhibit showcasing local sustainable companies, one of which was a local straw bale company my husband was working for - in an effort to keep him closer to home and his 1 year old daughter.

Here we are now, almost 5 years later, with our daughter 5 1/2 and a second daughter already 2. My husband has ran his own very successful indoor environmental testing and environmental building consulting business ( Your Healthy House) for almost 3 years.

And the Green Expo has grown hugely from the first small event in the Lions Club building where we took up each and every room with our 22 exhibitors.

In 2006, the event was proud to welcome the Minister of the Environment, the Honourable Laurel C. Broten to officially open the event.

The 5th Annual Green Expo featured Keynote Speaker Michael Stadtlander, author Leslie Garrett and other dynamic speakers Kelsi Prince and Stephen Collette with capacity seating at all of them. Very popular wine and beer tasting with 3 wineries and 2 breweries, a record number of booth spaces at 85 and the 1st Annual School Challenge and COIN took part in the event as well presenting workshops for youths on greening your business.

2009 saw award winning broadcast journalist Wendy Mesley fill the presentation area to capacity!

Original attendance figures began at about 250 and the last three years, it has reached close to 1,500. Attendees and exhibitors alike continually praise the quality, speakers and depth the event offers.
