The sixth annual Green Expo will take place: Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 10 am until 4 pm at the Evinrude Centre, Peterborough, Ontario

Admission to the event is only $5, with children under 12 free.

The 6th Annual Green Expo is expected to attract close to 100 exhibitors and more than 1500 attendees during the six-hour event.


Highlighting the day will be the Keynote Presentation by CBC's award-winning investigative reporter Wendy Mesley. Visit the Presenters link to read about Wendy and her talk.

Other very exciting new features to this year′s show include a Local Lunch, increased automobile area and lots and like usual, lots and lots of great exhibitors.


Local Lunch

Green Expo is very excited to announce that the event has joined forces with nearby farmers / producers and local students to offer a lunch created using all foods.

Students of the Culinary Arts programs at Fleming College and Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute will be preparing delicious first course (both meat and vegetarian options) entree that will contain local produce from such places as Stickling′s Bakery, Peterborough Buffalo Farms, Waymac Farms, Empire Cheese, McIntosh Beef Farm and Martin's Fruit and Vegetable Farms.

Also colloborating on this wonderful new feature to the annual Green Expo is Lisa Dixon and her amazing dessert & coffeehouse, blackHoney who will be adding a scrumptious dessert to the menu.


At 11:30 and 1:30, join the local chefs as they discuss chefs, the Green EXPO Lunch, local agri-source....they will gladly share recipes and fun steps it took to make it into a delicious meal for you!

Roasted Waymac Farms mushroom falafel with mixed sprouts & student made smoked mozzarella cheese

Peterborough Buffalo Farms honey garlic sausage with Empire old white cheddar
or
McIntosh Farms slow roasted beef with Empire horseradish mozzarella


All sandwiches served on Stickling Bakery breads with a roasted winter vegetable salad tossed in maple and apple cider vinaigrette and dessert

The Green Auto Challengewill showcase the most fuel-efficient, least emission producing, hybrid or otherwise better-for-the-earth vehicles at this year′s event. Many local dealerships will be showcasing their greenest offerings, even electric bikes will be represented! If you′re in a market for a new mode of transportation, you won′t want to miss this!
